Former U.S. Marshal Norris Batiste Jr., the first Black official for the Eastern District, passed away peacefully Thursday in Beaumont with his family. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, July 21 at 10 a.m. at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church after a July city council proclamation honored his legacy.
