- ➤ Hundreds gathered in Beaumont today at the 37th Annual MLK Breakfast to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (a beacon of non-violence and peace) as the community celebrated his enduring legacy. FOX 4 Beaumont
- ➤ Former Entergy CEO Joe Domino, known for restoring power after Hurricanes Rita and Ike, died on Jan. 19. Family and friends will gather from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 30 at Broussard’s and attend a Mass on Saturday, Jan. 31 at St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica. FOX 4 Beaumont
- ➤ Beaumont launched its monthly Veterans Coalition to connect over 35,000 local veterans with essential services (housing and mental health) during a meeting held Tuesday, Jan. 20 at Central Park Community Center (2925 Fannin St.), officials said the group will meet monthly to expand collaboration. 12 News Now

- ➤ The Hardin County Rotary club donated and began building a shade canopy for Silsbee Elementary to help students cool off this summer. Construction started Tuesday + they hope to finish it this weekend, weather permitting. KFDM
- ➤ After a Jan. 8 incident at West Brook High where a student unknowingly ate cannabis candy, a Beaumont mother called for stricter safety measures — including detection dogs— while district officials assured that student safety protocols are being reviewed. KFDM
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Jefferson County has imposed lane closures on I-10, U.S. 90 and TX 73 for road repairs — the closures began Tuesday and will continue until Saturday. Beaumont Enterprise
- ➤ A poll is underway about whether the city is addressing downtown's vacant and dilapidated buildings. City officials have faced long-standing safety concerns from these structures (residents can voice their opinions to guide future action). KFDM
