- ➤ With freezing temperatures and icy roads, Henry’s Place has sheltered over 30 guests since Saturday by offering blankets, sleeping bags, and donated cots (with city support), and Warm Hands Warm Hearts Ministry will open its shelter from Friday to Sunday to help more people. KFDM

- ➤ Lutcher Theater will launch its intimate Lutcher enLight series this Saturday with husband-and-wife folk duo The Imaginaries performing in downtown Orange — the event features general admission seating with a candlelit atmosphere. A free pop-up preview will take place Friday at Free State, and tickets are available for $43. 12 News Now

- ➤ Nederland ISD announced that Torrey Gomez is the new principal at Hillcrest Elementary. Gomez (with 25 years of experience and serving as assistant principal since 2017) will focus on advancing school culture and safety. KFDM

- ➤ In 2025, Southeast Texas ended as the fourth warmest year on record with 162 tornado reports statewide and Beaumont saw 4.5 inches of snow during a January storm; elsewhere, a record flash flood in southern Texas led to severe impacts. Beaumont Enterprise
FINANCE NEWS
- ➤ The IRS launched the tax season Monday and new law changes are set to boost refunds for local taxpayers, especially seniors and tip earners. A Beaumont tax preparer said seniors could see refunds up to $1,100 more and extra deductions may apply (overtime and tip income up to $25,000 might be excluded). 12 News Now

- ➤ Be Well Beaumont Day (10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday) will take place at the Sheila Umphrey Recreational Sports Center at Lamar University and offers fitness demos, games, and live local performances to encourage healthy living.
