The IRS launched the tax season Monday and new law changes are set to boost refunds for local taxpayers, especially seniors and tip earners.

A Beaumont tax preparer said seniors could see refunds up to $1,100 more and extra deductions may apply (overtime and tip income up to $25,000 might be excluded).
