  • Beaumont's Convention & Visitors Bureau held its 34th annual Hall of Fame awards reception on Tuesday, Feb. 3 at Tyrrell Park Garden Center, honoring event planners who brought key business to the city.   • Beaumont police are still trying to contact the family of Larry Andrews (74), who died Feb.2 in a downtown vacant lot while friends gathered at Iron Gate Studios to honor his gentle spirit and deep faith. Neighbors remember his kindness that touched many lives.  12 News Now

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Eastbound lanes on I-10 near Federal Road remain closed after a sinkhole caused by a water leak delayed Beaumont-bound traffic — TxDOT and Houston officials will assess damage before repairs begin, with reopening expected by Monday morning.  KFDM

CULTURE NEWS

  • The documentary about the Melody Maids had sold-out showings at the Jefferson Theatre on Jan. 17 and will play on Feb. 20 at the Edison Museum during the Boomtown Film and Music Festival—while Tyrrell Library hosts a related exhibit from Feb. 9 through May 15.  Beaumont Enterprise
  • Mardi Gras of Southeast Texas will host three days of outdoor concerts from Feb. 13 to Feb. 15 in Beaumont, with Zydeco bands, Taylor Swift tributes, and Carnival Latino performances on Sunday; Friday admission is $15, and tickets will feature an *early bird special* and *local flair* on Saturday.  12 News Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Heavy traffic is building on Beaumont's highways this evening during rush hour, with slower flow seen on I-10 near Pine Street and on U.S. 69 near South 4th Street. Drivers are advised to allow extra time as congestion eases near Toccoa, Louisiana Street, and the interchange with Washington Boulevard.  Beaumont Enterprise
  • County commissioners allocated an extra $286,000 on Feb. 4 for Ford Park and Doggett Fields to cover unexpected costs after debt was paid off. Officials said the one-time adjustment aims to avoid mid-year funding requests as the venue generates over $20 million annually.  KFDM

  • Local runners John Fowler of West Brook and freshman Marren Crawford of Little Cypress-Mauriceville were honored as the Super Gold Cross Country Runners of the Year for their state meet achievements on Feb. 4.
