- ➤ Beaumont is one of 10 Texas cities competing for a custom mural through the Texas Monthly and Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages Star-Spangled Texas Campaign in celebration of America's 250th birthday. - ➤ On Feb. 5 (his 170th birthday), Beaumont recalls William Perry Herring McFaddin's contributions to local ranching, oil discovery, canal irrigation, and business that spurred growth at Port Arthur and Spindletop. His legacy continues to shape the community. Beaumont Enterprise
- ➤ Moody Gardens in Galveston is unveiling new spring break attractions including Skeletown — an interactive exhibit on bones, a 3D penguin film, and a refreshed hotel with a coastal vibe. The attractions open Mar. 7 and run through summer. 12 News Now

- ➤ Beaumont ISD held a student's phone for six days after he forgot his backpack, prompting parent Ashlee Johnson to question if the policy risks student safety after school. - ➤ Blanchette Elementary School hosted its annual book fair today when the Spindletop Rotary Club gave out over 500 new books to students. - ➤ TCEQ commissioners approved $148,359 in fines for two Mid-County chemical plants for past emissions violations, including releases from incidents in 2022 and 2023; OCI Beaumont and Indorama Ventures Oxides mostly denied the charges + made payments toward environmental projects.
