- ➤ Firefighters, busy at Settler's Cove Apartments, responded to a small blaze at Twisted Egg Shack on Dowlen Road Tuesday night at 8:16 p.m. with no visible damage reported. KFDM
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The McFaddin-Ward House Museum will host its fourth annual SOAR Family Day on Sunday, Mar. 1, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 1906 McFaddin Ave where families can explore butterfly-themed craft stations, live music, and interactive activities on the museum grounds. FOX 4 Beaumont
- ➤ The Golden Triangle Quilt Guild will host its annual show in Beaumont on Feb. 27-28, featuring 300 handcrafted quilts and a special red, white, + blue section honoring America's 250th. Admission is $12 with free entry for children under 8 and free parking, and vendors and food service will be available. 12 News Now
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Hardin-Jefferson ISD superintendent Brad McEachern said he will retire this summer after 32 years in education at a recent board meeting, noting his deep ties to the community. The district will announce the leadership transition process later. KFDM
- ➤ Lamar University will host Cardinal View on Saturday, Feb. 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. inside the Sheila Umphrey Recreational Sports Center (in partnership with the Setzer Student Center), where prospective students and families can tour campus, attend information sessions and explore scholarship opportunities. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ A national study called 'Voices of Black Women' is enrolling Black women ages 25 to 55 with no cancer history during Black History Month in Beaumont to help reduce cancer deaths. More than 5,500 participants have joined so far (target is 100,000 nationwide) as researchers work to improve outcomes. 12 News Now
