- ➤ WWII veteran 2nd Lt. Frank Johnstone, a Beaumont native, was honored at an 11 a.m. graveside service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park last Friday (Feb. 20); first responders, motorcycle riders, and volunteer veterans escorted his remains home as his great nephew paid tribute at the service. KFDM
- ➤ The Spindletop Rotary Club will host its annual charity roast on Tuesday, March 31 at MCM Elegante Hotel, honoring Sheriff Zena Stephens — with proceeds benefiting the Southeast Texas Food Bank. Tickets are $75, with doors opening at 6 p.m. and the event starting at 7 p.m. 12 News Now
