COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On March 14, 2025, St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica held its annual St. Joseph’s Day Milanese luncheon at the Cathedral Center at 700 Jefferson St, serving $12 meals to-go with pasta, fried fish, artichoke and green bean casserole, bread, dessert and tea. The event raised funds for four local food assistance groups (Southeast Texas Food Bank, Nutrition and Services for Seniors, Some Other Place and Catholic Charities of Southeast Texas).  Beaumont Enterprise
  • The Southeast Texas Christian Women Coalition will host a Prayer Conference (scheduled for Friday, March 28th) to help women and girls learn more about Christ. Leader Roberta Joseph (with Port Arthur's Camella Williams) said the event will bring everyone together under the Missionary Baptist General Convention of Texas.  KFDM

CRIME NEWS

  • Beaumont police are seeking help finding 32-year-old Franclin Orellan, who was last seen on March 9 at about 8 p.m. at Walgreens on College Street, is 5 feet tall and weighs 150 pounds, and was driving a 2007 GMC Acadia (with an unknown Texas license plate) as his family remains worried about his well-being.  KFDM

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Former mayor Robin Mouton—who served from 2021 to 2023—has joined the race for mayor so she can finish downtown work and help Beaumont grow. She uses her past success in uniting the council and securing federal funds to lead her campaign as early voting begins April 22 and Election Day is on May 3.  12 News Now
  • The Beaumont City Council will vote Tuesday, March 18 on an ordinance declaring the fire-damaged Gilbert Building an imminent danger and requiring owner Tom Flanagan to demolish the structure within five days. Flanagan—whose properties have been under scrutiny after three fires on June 6, 2024—will update the council on his plans for the building amid ongoing public safety concerns.  12 News Now
  • Beaumont residents experienced brief water disruptions near Pecos on North 4th Street in Old Town while crews repaired a water main break. The Water Utilities Department reported 21 new leaks this month and fixed 28 in total—service crews address major issues faster while smaller repairs may take up to three weeks.  KFDM
