COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ The SETX Strong Families Coalition, started by Buckner Children and Family Services administrator Laura May, has grown to include 32 local agencies from education, mental health and social services—bringing diverse groups together to support families in Southeast Texas. The group meets monthly and will host a free Family Fun Day on April 12 at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church—offering a resource fair for families in need. Beaumont Enterprise
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Anderson Homes is set to move from its current location at 7770 Gladys Ave to a new building (5,890 square feet) at 450 Bowie Street on May 1 in downtown Beaumont. The co-owner said the move will include an accessory building (100 square feet) and is aimed at joining downtown revitalization efforts. Beaumont Enterprise

- ➤ Dance Emporium in Beaumont recently celebrated 40 years when owner Darlene Hanna recalled starting the store in a former dry cleaner and using creative ideas like a tanning bed to cover lean dance seasons. She said she plans to hand the business over to her daughter while keeping the store up to date with new dance trends. Beaumont Enterprise
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Tom Flanagan, owner of the century-old Gilbert Building, will update the council today on his plan to restore the structure damaged by fire last June—city officials may soon issue an ordinance to demolish it within five days if the restoration does not meet standards. A city structural engineer recommended finishing the interior demolition and removing the loose parapet coping by week's end, and Flanagan said the work will be completed on time. KFDM

Dusty Slay, a Nashville-based comedian known for his observational blue-collar humor, will perform at the Jefferson Theatre in Beaumont on March 21, 2025.
