- ➤ Homelessness in Southeast Texas has more than doubled in the past two years, and the Salvation Army in Beaumont is expanding services and shelter capacity—helping people who must choose between rent and food. Lieutenant James Guzman said the organization is teaming with partners to help residents get jobs and vital documents as part of the Sinclair Cares: From Homeless to Hope initiative—hoping to stop more families from falling into crisis. - ➤ Witnesses reported that an SUV hit a fire hydrant before 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, briefly taking flight and landing on two parked cars outside Doggett Nissan in Beaumont — the driver was shaken but not seriously injured. KFDM

- ➤ Taluka Trades relocated its high-end thrift boutique from downtown after the city council voted today to demolish the Gilbert Building amid uncertainty following a fire that disrupted access last year—owner Meghan Cobb hopes to return if the building’s fate is settled, and the business will hold its grand re-opening and ribbon-cutting at its new Laurel Street location on Thursday at 4:00 p.m. 12 News Now
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Chambers County deputies arrested Brad Thibodeaux—accused of damaging a fiber optic junction box while searching for copper—on March 18 near Highway 73 in Winnie, and his vandalism caused over $100,000 in damages that disrupted 911, internet and phone services in Chambers and western Jefferson counties. - ➤ Beaumont authorities are searching for Kenyon Wayne Thibodeaux, 19, who is considered dangerous and is wanted on charges including assault causing bodily injury to a family member, evading arrest with a vehicle, unauthorized use of a vehicle and possession of a controlled substance under 1 gram; anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at (409)833TIPS or the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office at (409)83588411.
