- ➤ A small dog named Smidge is recovering after surviving an alligator attack at the Henry Homberg Golf Course at Tyrrell Park last Sunday, where the pet fought back against being dragged underwater (golfers say alligator sightings in the area are common). KFDM

- ➤ Texas leaders & fans pay tribute to Chuck Norris, the famed Walker, Texas Ranger star, after he died Thursday at age 86 in Hawaii. His family said he was at peace and surrounded by loved ones at his Navasota ranch. 12 News Now
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Earlier this week, Gary Saurage of Gator Country rescued a 13-foot alligator, Big Jasper, from Lake Sam Rayburn near Twin Dikes Marina — he was underweight and 60 years old. He now rests in a rehab pond at the park where staff started small feedings to aid recovery. 12 News Now
