- ➤ 88.1 KLBT-FM launched its 14th Buckner Shoes for Orphan Souls drive—collecting new shoes and socks—from March 31 through April 30 to help vulnerable children. The drive will end with a Shoe Marathon Day on May 2 at Praise Church where local organizations may serve as drop-off sites. Beaumont Enterprise
- ➤ Beaumont community and the school district celebrated West Brook Bruins' first state basketball championship on Thursday, March 27—after a week-long delay for road closures arranged with TxDOT and the city—with a parade and rally that brought families, students, staff and city leaders together. - ➤ Janet Turk said that last Friday her home caught fire and with the front steps under renovation she was trapped on her porch — Curtis Constantine and Jared Trimble rescued her and alerted neighbors as flames and exploding propane tanks threatened more harm. KFDM
