  • Residents in Sabine Pass voice safety concerns over the only evacuation route following a refinery explosion last week + over 1,000 have signed a petition urging officials to rebuild the roadway; a town hall meeting is set for next Wednesday at 5 p.m. at the Community Center.  12 News Now
  • A spirited but paralyzed French bulldog named Twinkle Toes is available for adoption via the Humane Society of Southeast Texas with a foster-to-adopt option for trial. She will have soft palate reduction surgery on Tuesday and comes with a wheelchair + stroller.  12 News Now
  • CASA of the Sabine Neches Region will host its 6th Annual CASA Classic Golf Tournament on Friday, April 10 at Wildwood Golf Course in Village Mills — teams and sponsors raise funds for abused children by joining a 9:00 a.m. 4-person scramble that supports CASA advocacy programs.  KFDM

  • Bishop David Toups announced that Dr. Tarah Dahl will become principal at Monsignor Kelly Catholic High School effective July 1 as she advances from her role as assistant principal + dean of academics. He also thanked former principal Gina Harris, who remains president.  FOX 4 Beaumont

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Chevron Phillips Chemical will pay $184,250 to settle state air violations at its Port Arthur plant after a 2022 incident released more than 21,000 pounds of ethylene and VOCs; $92,125 of the penalty will fund the Lighthouse Program in Jefferson County to help low-income homes upgrade energy efficiency.  12 News Now

  • Port Neches officials discussed e-bike safety rules at Thursday’s City Council meeting after residents raised concerns about speed and visibility; future ordinances may be considered at the next meeting.  FOX 4 Beaumont

HEALTH NEWS

  • A local mother honors her daughter Lexy's memory this April by championing organ donation awareness as part of Donate Life Month (a national campaign promoting organ, eye and tissue donation) and inviting community members to learn about becoming donors.  FOX 4 Beaumont
  • First responders across Southeast Texas completed stress management training on Thursday provided by the Critical Incident Stress Management Team (EMS, law enforcement, firefighters, and chaplains) to learn techniques for handling traumatic calls and reducing long-term effects.
