- ➤ Today at the South Texas State Fair, Rudy's Kabob celebrates 30 years of serving fresh kabobs to loyal fans. Owner Rudy Bermudez, who began the business from a wooden shack in Beaumont, said his family-run vendor draws customers from hours away with a menu (pork, steak, chicken and shrimp) prepared on site. 12 News Now

- ➤ Big Sam, an 800-pound alligator, attracts visitors at the South Texas State Fair in Beaumont where Gator Country hosts live feeding demonstrations + educational displays, with interactive experiences and a gator egg hunt for families as the exhibit runs through Sunday. KFDM
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Beaumont City Council will consider a five-year lease agreement with the South End Charlton-Pollard Greater Historic Community Association to establish a community garden on lots along Irving Avenue. The lease — which charges $10 annually with renewal options — is set for council review on April 7. KFDM
- ➤ Beaumont police and fire officials are asking for City Council approval to secure a $12,000 grant that would fund four kayaks with sonar technology to aid in rescues and underwater searches. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas Behavioral Health applied for NEZ incentives to expand its Beaumont facility at 3250 Fannin St, adding 72 patient beds and a new 3-story building. Construction began in March 2026 and will finish early 2028 while the project creates 120+ full-time jobs. FOX 4 Beaumont
