- ➤ St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church in Beaumont will host Women’s Empowerment Night on Monday, April 14th at 5:45 p.m.—the free event will help attendees build self-confidence and deepen their spiritual walk with Christ while inviting men as well. KFDM
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Beaumont police said that a driver in a grey Nissan Sentra accidentally ran over 29-year-old Trey Guillory lying in the westbound lane on the 8600 block of Landis in the Amelia area at about 8 p.m. Wednesday — EMS later took him to CHRISTUS Saint Elizabeth Hospital where he died of his injuries. - ➤ A 16-year-old boy was arrested for the murder of Terry Lee Thompson, 63, who was shot while riding his bike with a friend on Tuesday evening — the incident occurred at the corner of Pipkin Street and Chaison Avenue in South Park. 12 News Now
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Hamshire-Fannett ISD cancelled classes today due to power outages that left about 900 local customers without service, and Entergy is investigating the cause—staff will report by 1:00 p.m. while classes resume tomorrow. KFDM
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Former state representative Mark Stiles and longtime attorney Cory Crenshaw participated in a debate Wednesday at KFDM/Fox 4’s broadcast center on Walden Road as they run for the Ward 1 city council seat in Beaumont. They discussed issues such as downtown hotel development and public safety — with the municipal election scheduled for Saturday, May 3 — while outlining plans to address local challenges. KFDM
- ➤ City officials are weighing two proposals to upgrade Henry Homberg Golf Course in Terrell Park—a $14.5 million plan to fix drainage and irrigation or a $20 million full redesign to modernize the course. The Beaumont City Council will soon decide which option will move forward. 12 News Now

- ➤ The City of Beaumont has extended the temporary restraining order on the Gilbert Building until July 16 so that owner Tom Flanagan or a new owner can bring the structure into compliance after a fire in June 2024.
