  • Bobby Woods, a Houston native who moved here in 2021, sits on 7th Street near TAN Healthcare and waves at passing drivers to brighten their day. He has waved for two years regardless of the weather and enjoys brief chats with those who stop — his routine brings a bit of cheer to the community.  Beaumont Enterprise
  • 12News won three awards in Austin on Saturday night at the Texas Broadcast News Awards; the station earned honors in Television Breaking News, Political Issues Coverage and Television Evening Newscast from 600 entries.   • Kountze celebrated state basketball wins as fans honored the Lions—Lionettes with a parade and pep rally on Saturday. The community gathered at the high school to mark the unique dual state titles achieved by the teams.  Beaumont Enterprise

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Suncoast Resources, a Houston-based oil and fuel distributor, ceased its Jasper operations following its merger with Reladyne in April 2023—its office on Highway 63 closed on April 21 and most local employees were transferred to branches in Lufkin, Beaumont and Sulphur.  FOX 4 Beaumont

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The College of Engineering at Lamar University hosted its annual Discover Engineering event this spring in Beaumont to inspire youth from kindergarten to eighth grade with hands-on STEM activities and support from students, industry partners and faculty. The event provided resources for parents, teachers and counselors while highlighting future engineering internships—demonstrating the university’s commitment to growing local talent.  12 News Now

HEALTH NEWS

  • Beaumont Public Health inspected several restaurants between March 24 and April 5 and found most scored an A while some received a B for issues like improper food temperatures and sanitation lapses. Little Caesar's, which scored 92, repeatedly left butter out overnight and must address its repeated violations—other establishments such as El Habanero and Home 2 Suites faced similar food safety concerns.  Beaumont Enterprise

  • The Enterprise announced the 2025 Super Gold Girls Basketball Team, honoring top players from Southeast Texas who led strong seasons. Keyona McDaniel—Player of the Year—excelled for Kountze while Olivia Moore sparked Hamshire-Fannett's first regional final and others were recognized for their standout performances.  Beaumont Enterprise
