- ➤ Today, The Arc of Greater Beaumont hosts its annual Stars of The Arc Celebrity Style Show and Dinner at Holiday Inn & Suites Beaumont Plaza with a mingle session at 6:00 p.m. followed by the style show at 7:00 p.m.; Executive Director Sarah Hardin said the event will highlight members with intellectual and developmental disabilities as models. - ➤ The South Park Neighborhood Partnership will host Day in the Park at Alice Keith Park on Saturday, April 26 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will feature live music — free food — and family activities. KFDM
- ➤ Cider is a lively pitbull terrier at Beaumont Animal Care who was brought in on April 23rd and needs a loving home—she is over two years old, must live with only submissive dogs because she resource guards her food, and her adoption fee is $70. Beaumont Enterprise
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Jeremy O’Quinn Brown, 34, from Jasper was sentenced to 22 years in federal prison for trafficking cocaine, meth and marijuana after law enforcement executed a search warrant in October 2023 that uncovered drugs and nearly $95,000 in cash (and two firearms). KFDM
- ➤ A jury in Judge John Stevens’ courtroom convicted Jason Gregory Noble, 50, for violently attacking his stepfather with a gun—leaving a circular 9mm mark on his head—and he now faces 25 years to life with sentencing set for a hearing within the next month. KFDM
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Today, the Texas Education Agency released 2023 A–F ratings for schools using data from the last school year, and Beaumont ISD said these scores do not reflect the schools’ current progress. The ratings were delayed by a lawsuit and now use new scoring rules — officials say the changes give families a clearer view of school performance. KFDM

- ➤ The debate featuring five mayoral candidates aired on Wednesday night at 9 p.m. on Fox4 — voters now can choose which candidate impressed them the most. KFDM
- ➤ Early voting is underway from April 22 to April 29 for the May 3 municipal and school elections in Beaumont as voters choose a mayor and ward seats. The Jefferson County Clerk reported 3,389 ballots have been cast at locations including Rogers Park Community Center—where turnout is highest—the Jefferson County Courthouse, John Paul Davis Community Center and Theodore Johns Library.
