ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Early Monday morning, a section of scaffolding collapsed at the Port Arthur LNG site, killing three construction workers and injuring two others, and a former coworker recalled victim Dontrell Magee — known as Reggie — as a hardworking man, while legal experts noted that families of the deceased may file wrongful death lawsuits if gross negligence is proven. 12 News Now
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ An ISIS official was detained in Iraq on suspicion of inciting the New Year's Day attack in New Orleans that killed over a dozen people—U.S. and Iraqi authorities are investigating his alleged support of the Beaumont-born terrorist. KFDM
- ➤ The last of seven MS—13 defendants were sentenced in Beaumont for a 2022 prison attack that resulted in two deaths, with Juan Carlos Rivas-Moreiera receiving a life sentence on April 25 and Hector Ramires sentenced to 360 months on April 29 amid a broader crackdown on the gang’s violent activities. - ➤ Beaumont police are investigating a stabbing on the 1000 block of McFaddin Street after receiving a call (4:30 p.m.) today; the victim was taken to a hospital and is in stable condition while the suspect was taken into custody with help from RTCC. 12 News Now
- ➤ Billy Ray Thomas, Jr.—a former NFCU assistant branch manager from Winnie who defrauded customers of over $1 million—is sentenced to 34 months in federal prison after pleading guilty on April 29 and must pay $1,363,825.18 in restitution. KFDM
