- ➤ Port Neches RiverFest kicked off Wednesday with Faith & Family Night at the River Front — and the event will run until May 4th. Board member Terry Schwertner discussed the festival on a noon show. KFDM
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A scaffolding collapse at the Port Arthur LNG site claimed three lives and led a University of Houston construction management professor to review jobsite safety practices after reviewing footage—an OSHA report will detail the causes. 12 News Now
- ➤ Families of two Houston men killed and one injured worker filed a lawsuit for over $1 million against several energy companies and a contractor after a fatal scaffolding collapse at the Port Arthur LNG site in Sabine Pass on April 29— the suit says safety rules were not followed and asks the judge to preserve evidence for a trial. 12 News Now
- ➤ The Beaumont Fire Department put out a fire in a building behind a home on Roberts Avenue near Avenue A after the incident was reported shortly before noon yesterday—no one was injured. KFDM
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Two 17-year-olds fatally shot 18-year-old Linny Nixon IV after planning to steal his gun at the Landmark Apartments on French Road Monday evening—police arrested Trevor Green and John Jones Tuesday with bond set at $850,000 for Green and $800,000 for Jones. 12 News Now
- ➤ Groves Police released body cam footage from an April 2 stop on Madison Boulevard where a woman was ticketed for walking on the wrong side of the road, and her husband claims that officers (four on scene due to training) used too much force and possibly racially targeted the couple as they now hire an attorney. KFDM
- ➤ On April 30, Beaumont police seized 44 pounds of cocaine from a tractor-trailer on I-10 East near Major Drive—this bust follows an April 17 stop when detectives uncovered 1,276 pounds in a U-Haul and arrested a suspect on felony drug charges. KFDM

- ➤ The Lamar spring dance concert—Dance Unleashed—will be held May 2 and 3 at the University Theatre where Lamar faculty and guest choreographer Felicia Avalos will present diverse works that explore cultural roots and modern themes. - ➤ The Texas Department of Transportation announced that from 8 p.m. May 2 until 5 a.m. May 5 main lanes on I-10 and U.S. 69 will be closed for the Maury Myers Bridge demolition — drivers are advised to follow detour routes along the frontage roads at Laurel Avenue, Calder Avenue, and other key intersections.
