- ➤ On Thursday morning the Diocese of Beaumont announced that Robert Reid stepped down as Superintendent of Catholic Schools and Alison Kiker will take over the role—Bishop David Toups said Kiker will also remain principal at St. Anne Catholic School and oversee the three Catholic grade schools while assisting at Msgr. - ➤ Interstate 10 main lanes will close at Laurel Avenue for the Maury Meyers Bridge demolition, weather permitting, starting at 8 p.m. today until 5 a.m. Monday, May 5—traffic will be diverted to frontage roads with underpass closures affecting several intersections. KFDM
- ➤ Beaumont drivers will face heavy delays on I-10 tonight as all lanes close at Laurel Ave from 8 p.m. today until 5 a.m. Monday for the demolition of Maury Meyers Bridge — crews are starting work to replace the bridge with a new at-ground roadway and advise using alternate routes. 12 News Now

- ➤ Meals on Wheels in Southeast Texas faces a funding crisis after federal cuts halved its budget — leaving the program solely responsible for providing between 1,300 and 1,500 meals daily to seniors.
