- ➤ College and high school students from across Southeast Texas spent Saturday morning and afternoon cleaning and restoring veterans' graves at Green Lawn Memorial to honor those who served. FOX 4 Beaumont
- ➤ On Saturday, May 2, dozens of college and high school students from Southeast Texas gathered at Green Lawn Memorial Park in Groves to clean veterans’ graves (group effort) for families who could not maintain them. - ➤ A Beaumont wildlife worker named Kat celebrated her McNeese State graduation by posing with and kissing an alligator from local rescue facility Gator Country. The photos went viral on social media last Friday, sparking interest in her unique tribute to wildlife. 12 News Now
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Beaumont approved a nearly $2M deal with TxDOT to install solar-powered flashing signs in school zones and to upgrade existing signage with a cloud-based system funded mostly by federal money. The project, which aims to boost safety for students and drivers, has no set construction timeline. 12 News Now
- ➤ Tuesday night the new Beaumont ISD board met for under an hour to appoint Jeff Wheeler as president, select Arthur Louis as secretary, and approve a relocation deal for acting superintendent Sandi Massey; teachers pressed for clear guidance and job security ahead of a May 21 meeting to finalize Massey’s contract.
