ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Jerry Rinker, an 81-year-old professional boat racer and owner of Rinker's Boat World from Houston, crashed his 16-foot Tri-Hull boat near Port Neches Park during Riverfest at 12:45 p.m. on Sunday—a wave flipped his boat, and he was rescued by emergency personnel before being taken to a local hospital where he is now in stable condition. - ➤ Bernsen Law Firm has filed a lawsuit saying that Bechtel and other companies broke a temporary restraining order—by moving rigging, crane or scaffolding—in Sabine Pass after a scaffolding collapse killed three workers at 2 a.m. Tuesday, and a hearing is set for tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. 12 News Now

- ➤ On May 6th, the Texas Education Agency rated Beaumont ISD schools for the 2022–2023 school year with Regina-Howell Elementary earning the highest score at 88—B while Vincent Middle School, Sallie Curtis Elementary, Dishman Elementary, John F. Odom Academy, Roy Guess Elementary, Fletcher Elementary and Paul A Brown Alternative Center scored between 72—C and 81—B. Families can review these results to see if their child’s school is among the top-rated institutions. Beaumont Enterprise
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Jefferson County Commissioners postponed their decision to replace Chuck Kiker on the Drainage District 6 board after the new nominee withdrew and Precinct Two Commissioner Cary Erickson was given authority to appoint someone else—County Judge Jeff Branick said Kiker is unlikely to be reappointed since he does not live in Precinct Two while some residents voiced their support during the meeting. - ➤ Port Neches-Groves High School’s Unified track team won its first state title on April 25. The program brings together students with and without intellectual disabilities—fostering inclusion and lifelong bonds—and marks a milestone that local schools may look to expand. KFDM
