- ➤ At about 2:30 p.m. Sunday, a motorcycle driver died when he lost control on Kiker Drive and hit a stop sign on State Highway 124 before a Chevrolet pickup struck him — troopers said the victim's name will remain confidential until relatives are notified. KFDM

- ➤ A new hotel—TownePlace Suites by Marriott—is being built at 5450 Rexora Dr. in Beaumont and will feature 96 rooms and an outdoor pool. The four-story building will offer studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom suites with kitchens, a free continental breakfast, and a pet-friendly policy. Beaumont Enterprise

- ➤ A male was fatally shot around 1 a.m. today in the 1400 block of Prairie Avenue off Avenue A—Beaumont police say one person is in custody while the victim remains unidentified. KFDM
- ➤ Beaumont law enforcement officials are seeking help today to locate Karyn Johnson, a 37-year-old woman wanted in connection with a series of crimes whose specific details remain undisclosed, and anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at (409) 833-TIPS or the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office at (409) 835-88411.
