A 30-year-old Beaumont man was arrested for murder after he shot 33-year-old Joel Jenkins during a dominoes game fight early Tuesday, May 13, on Prairie Ave—police say the investigation is ongoing.

Calvin Gary Walker, the former electrical contractor who stole $1.2 million from Beaumont ISD, faced a probation revocation hearing on Tuesday, May 13 at 1 p.m. in Jefferson County Criminal District Court—witnesses from the Jefferson County Correctional Facility were subpoenaed as prosecutors detailed his failure to meet restitution payments.

On Tuesday, Beaumont officially swore in four new council members—LaDona Sherwood, Cory Crenshaw, Joey Hilliard, and Mike Williams—in what Mayor Roy West called a historic leadership shift.

The new members plan to focus on infrastructure, public safety, and youth outreach as they take office.
