  • Early Friday, a fire at Sunrise East Apartments destroyed 10 units and left 34 people without a home—residents returned to salvage belongings while local groups offered vouchers and donations—Bridge City Fire Department said the blaze started after outside storage units caught fire and spread rapidly.  12 News Now

  • Calvin Gary Walker, a former BISD electrician who defrauded the district of over $1.17 million in 2019, filed an appeal on May 15 to challenge a nine-year prison sentence imposed after his probation was revoked—he remains free on a personal recognizance bond and must wear a GPS monitor.  12 News Now
  • Beaumont Police arrested 18-year-old Montreal Lightfoot on Friday for deadly conduct in connection with the May 5 Maddox Street shooting and issued a warrant for 22-year-old Kevontay Willis—seen in a purple hoodie—who remains at large as the investigation continues.  12 News Now

  • Texas Department of Transportation closed part of North Street at the I-10 eastbound frontage road at 8 a.m. Friday for drainage work under the Eastex Interchange Project—contractors installed concrete boxes and motorists should use alternate routes until 5 p.m. today.  Beaumont Enterprise

  • Brookeland Wildcats advanced to the Regional Finals for the first time after sweeping the Chester Yellowjackets at Vincent-Beck Stadium as starting pitcher Zach Beckett pitched 6.1 innings and the team scored key runs in the fourth inning — they will now face the Avalon Eagles for a spot in the State Semi-Finals.  12 News Now
