ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Sempra Infrastructure expressed sorrow over a construction incident at Port Arthur LNG that nearly three weeks ago killed a rigger, an ironworker & a carpenter and injured two others, and said Bechtel will restart work in select areas only when safe conditions are met. 12 News Now
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Owners of Smash Wagon in Beaumont called for community help after a Sunday break-in at their East Lucas Drive burger stand caused nearly $2,300 in food loss and equipment damage—police are investigating as the stand resumed operations Tuesday with an emergency Sysco order. 12 News Now
- ➤ Beaumont police arrested three men in connection with a May 5 Maddox St shooting that left two people wounded and was linked to a string of similar incidents—Montreal Lightfoot, Kevontay Willis, and Yamuel Burgos face deadly conduct charges for discharging a firearm, with Lightfoot and Willis taken into custody on May 16 and Burgos turning himself in on May 15 before being released on bond. 12 News Now
- ➤ Several sixth grade students at Woodville Middle School suffered burns to their hands on May 19 when a coach led a TikTok bear crawl challenge, and district officials are reviewing the incident while police investigate as multiple parents file reports — the coach has been removed from duty. - ➤ Jefferson County officials are enhancing flood control with the East China Relief Project to protect homes from stormwater ahead of hurricane season—using a 22-acre detention basin and a nearly three-mile relief ditch off Highway 90 in China, Texas. The project, funded by a $2.1 million FEMA grant and local property taxes, is halfway complete—emergency drills including high water and boat rescues are scheduled for June. 12 News Now
