ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A police officer and a driver were injured when a white Dodge Ram struck a patrol car blocking traffic on IH-10 south near the 3700 block, pushing the police vehicle into another car—both were transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries and the driver was cited.  12 News Now
  • Beaumont Police investigated a fatal crash in the 800 block of IH 10 eastbound after receiving a call at 8:40 a.m. about a single-vehicle car fire— the driver died and the passenger is in stable condition at Saint Elizabeth Hospital.  KFDM

CRIME NEWS

  • Beaumont Police responded at 11:05 a.m. today to a disturbance on W. Crockett St that resulted in a stabbing in the 3100 block — the victim was taken by EMS in serious condition while detectives are questioning the other individual and witnesses with no arrests made so far.  FOX 4 Beaumont

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Ivey Calhoun helped start hot school meals at Big Creek School in the early 1940s by using government food surpluses and asking a local widow to cook extra food—efforts that fed students during hard times. His work created a model for school lunch programs that later grew into partnerships ensuring many children get a nutritious meal at school—an initiative that lives on in today’s education system.  Beaumont Enterprise

SPORTS NEWS

  • Lamar University's men's basketball team signed junior-college guard King-Njhsanni Wilhite to join next season — he averaged 10.1 points and helped his team win a state championship at City College of San Francisco. Coach Alvin Brooks said Wilhite’s strong defense and winning experience will fill gaps left when key guards graduated and transferred.  Beaumont Enterprise
