Residents at Glen Oaks Apartments report worsening conditions after a city inspection on May 19 uncovered termite damage and multiple code violations; the city has barred balcony and patio access and requires a structural report by July 4.

Beaumont firefighter TJ Boles completed a 248-mile run from Austin to One City Church in Beaumont yesterday to raise $350,000 for a new roof on Memorial Day.

He was cheered on by local supporters + family and the Beaumont Fire Department during his challenging journey.

The ceremony, hosted by Southeast Texas Veterans Group and featuring remarks by Air Force officer Ganette Hernandez, saw a resonant horn sound + tribute to veterans’ sacrifices.

The island in the Neches River near Pine Street is a historic site where shipyards built vessels during two world wars and later fabricated offshore rigs for the Cold War; the facility closed after Hurricane Harvey, yet the Port of Beaumont remains the nation’s busiest military port.
