- ➤ Church leaders will hold the 65th Congress of Christian Education at Rock Island Missionary Baptist Church from June 3rd to 5th to celebrate 65 years as the largest auxiliary of the Eastern Progressive Missionary Baptist District Association—an event featuring youth seminars and leadership training. - ➤ Gentle Canine Training will host a free dog training demonstration at the Humane Society of Southeast Texas in Beaumont this Saturday, May 31 from 12pm to 3pm—dogs must be leashed. - ➤ A Beaumont EMS ambulance flipped after a collision with an SUV on Monday just after 11 a.m. at the intersection of Sarah St and Fannett Rd — the SUV driver was cited for failing to yield and one medic was injured and placed in the ICU while the other two medics were released from the hospital. 12 News Now

- ➤ Redbird BBQ in Port Neches earned fourth place on Texas Monthly’s Top 50 Barbecue list for its salty-smoky brisket and Persian-inspired koobideh sausages wrapped in house-baked pita — and Beaumont’s 1701 Barbecue was recognized again for its classic Central Texas brisket, Cajun-style boudin, and pork-belly cracklins. Texas Monthly had 26 tasters visit 319 barbecue joints over 14 weeks to complete its review. 12 News Now

- ➤ Today, Beaumont police arrested 19-year-old Latrick Williams as the 12th suspect linked to recent shootings that injured several victims—Williams reported to the department to speak with detectives but resisted and tried to destroy evidence, and he now faces charges for Unlawful Carrying Weapon, Tampering with Evidence, and Resisting. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Overnight storms knocked out power for more than 23,000 Entergy customers across southeast Texas, including thousands in Beaumont and Port Arthur, with nearly 5,000 outages in Jefferson County — and crews were expected to restore power by 10 p.m. Tuesday. KFDM
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The first day of early voting in Beaumont's mayoral runoff brought 1,410 votes—including 454 mail-in ballots—with Rogers Park leading at 565 votes and overall numbers higher than the 1,358 votes from the general election. Early voting began Tuesday and will run through June 3—incumbent Roy West is set to face former mayor Robin Mouton in a runoff scheduled for Saturday, June 7. KFDM
