- ➤ On Monday, Davie Defense broke ground in Galveston for a $1 billion shipbuilding modernization that will upgrade Gulf Copper shipyards in Galveston + Port Arthur. The project is slated to create about 2,400 jobs, with the first phase set to finish in 2028. KFDM
- ➤ Judice's 1927, a long-loved Cajun restaurant on Nederland Ave serving the community for 99 years, closed Monday due to rising food, labor, and supply costs (the family's Meat Market will stay open). KFDM
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The hurricane season began June 1 (per NOAA) and forecasters expect fewer storms due to El Niño increasing wind shear. Beaumont residents should update preparedness measures as even a single storm may cause heavy damage during the typical peak on Sept. 10. 12 News Now

- ➤ Hurricane season begins today as Jefferson County Drainage District 6 nears completion on its Ditch 600 flood project in the China area, which includes a 22-acre detention basin to better manage heavy rains & reduce flooding in local neighborhoods.
