- ➤ Beaumont Animal Care announced that 60 dogs are on a lifesaving journey to find new homes—21 dogs are leaving today for a rescue in Maryland and 39 are headed to Canada. Volunteers with Forever Homes Dog Rescue of Southeast Texas ensured all paperwork and care measures are in place as the animals are transported. FOX 4 Beaumont

- ➤ Panera Bread at 4104 Dowlen in Beaumont will permanently close at 4 p.m. today due to low sales—15 employees now face uncertain job futures. KFDM
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On June 2 at about 8:15 p.m., a fight broke out at the United States Penitentiary in Beaumont and staff quickly used lifesaving efforts on three prisoners, with emergency medical services transporting them to a local hospital while a fourth received treatment onsite (Federal Bureau of Prisons). - ➤ The Philippine Association of Beaumont will host its first Southeast Texas Asian Festival on Sunday, June 8th from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Downtown Event Center—organizers Vincent Jaspher Cauilan and Maria Charisma Bajar expect over one thousand attendees from Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana. - ➤ The Salt Bayou Marsh Restoration project has nearly finished work at McFaddin National Wildlife Refuge to protect the 20-mile coastline from hurricane damage by restoring dunes, wetlands, and breakwaters.
