- ➤ The Soul Sisters Summer Conference will be held on July 11th at 7:00 p.m. at Life Changing Worship Assembly on Delaware Street in Beaumont where speakers, a panel of experts, brunch and vendors will energize attendees. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A 21‑month‑old child fell from a moving vehicle at North Main and West Chance Road in Lumberton when a 22‑year‑old driver’s back door opened—police say the child was released from the hospital and a criminal investigation alongside a separate child protective review is underway as two other children in the car were not properly secured. 12 News Now
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On Wednesday, Beaumont police indicted six suspects for a series of shootings that injured eight people in early May — the violence involved rival groups using social media to plan the attacks and police later arrested ten persons to help end the threat. 12 News Now
- ➤ An online student dressed as a construction worker entered Lamar University’s library with flammable materials and made a threat, prompting campus police to evacuate the campus for over three hours before arresting the individual—officials later confirmed that a backpack found in the chemistry building was not a threat and that campus operations resumed on Thursday. - ➤ The Texas Department of Transportation said a westbound lane on I-10 near Doggett Ford Park will close overnight from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Tuesday through Friday for barrier relocation and construction work—contractors will move a concrete barrier and weather may alter the schedule. - ➤ In Nederland, Mayor Jeff Darby held an executive session after neighbors complained about a 12,000 square foot church fellowship hall expansion by the Apostolic Tabernacle of Texas—he said the building met all guidelines and no zoning violations were found. Concerned neighbor Jolei Shipley warned that legal action could follow if the city does not enforce residential zoning rules. KFDM
