Beaumonters have shared ideas to avoid long train delays on their daily commutes, with many recommending routes like the Dowlen Road overpass and the MLK exit off I-10 — some residents argued that no route fully avoids these delays.

Local commuters noted that trains on Major Drive and other key streets sometimes cause extra travel time during peak hours.

Beaumont’s annual Juneteenth celebration moved indoors at the Beaumont Civic Center yesterday as organizers shifted the free event inside due to heavy rain — attendees enjoyed live music by Midnight Star and a dance routine by SETX Linesteppers.

City staff shared the new Community Investment Plan that lists many projects to upgrade parks, downtown, and roads over the next five years — the plan may bring in over $135 million through a November bond election if approved by voters.
