ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Heavy rains have left many Southeast Texas drivers with water-damaged cars and local auto shops have seen a surge in repairs—regional manager Carl Victory advised drivers to inspect their tires for safety.  FOX 4 Beaumont

CRIME NEWS

  • Beaumont police are searching for a suspect who stabbed a 66-year-old man at Hailey's Wash House on Wednesday around 12:30 p.m.—the suspect, seen loitering and wearing black pants, a black tank top, a red Washington Nationals cap, and black and white shoes, fled toward 4th Street and Blanchette Street while detectives work to secure clearer footage.  FOX 4 Beaumont

CULTURE NEWS

  • Acynthia Villery, a third-generation rodeo professional from Beaumont and the first African American female rodeo announcer for BPIR, was inducted into the Black Cowboy Museum Hall of Fame in Rosenberg on April 26—she was honored alongside Mollie Stevenson, Jr. and three other inductees.  KFDM
  • The Tyrrell Public Library finished digitizing over 600 KFDM news tapes from the 1970s and 1980s that covered local events including politics and desegregation — funding came from a nearly $25,000 grant approved earlier this year. Each month the library receives clips on a hard drive and plans to upload them to YouTube by year's end — preserving decades of Beaumont history.  KFDM

EDUCATION NEWS

  • St. Elizabeth Hospital and Lamar University hosted the Nightingale Experience for 42 high school students from 23 area schools, letting them practice real health care skills using a da Vinci 5 surgical robot, catheter insertions, and trauma tourniquet applications—supported by Lamar nursing students and CHRISTUS Associates.  KFDM

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Beaumont voters will decide this November on a bond package to fund upgrades for parks, public safety, and additional projects, marking the city's first bond vote in 43 years with a small tax increase. City leaders say that if the bond fails, projects will be delayed for at least three years—officials are set to present final recommendations to City Council after three remaining meetings—and residents can share opinions at a public meeting on July 12 from 10 a.m. to noon at Lakeside Center.  12 News Now
