On Sunday, June 22 at Magnolia Park, Beaumont Police Chief Tim Ocnaschek comforted a little girl who became upset during a tug-of-war match at the Cops & Kids Fun Day event—he offered her kind words and a warm hug that brightened her mood.

A 16-year-old driver crashed into railway equipment while leading police on a chase for street racing Saturday night and was pulled from his car by Fire & Rescue — he was taken to a nearby hospital where he is in stable condition, and the incident temporarily shut down the railroad.

Beaumont native Andre Harness started the Golden Triangle Big Band as a nonprofit to teach local students jazz after his band debuted in 2023 and became a nonprofit in 2024.

He said music helps empower learners—he plans to hold school concerts, offer scholarships and launch a youth jazz orchestra next summer.
