Emergency teams from Beaumont, Port Arthur, Jasper County and Jefferson County have joined search and rescue efforts in flooded Kerr County and are working to locate missing residents while officials advise against traveling in the area—local volunteers have also brought their own boats to help reach isolated spots.

Local community members gathered at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church on July 6 to pray with rosary beads for flood victims still missing from the Kerr County floods, and a mass was held at St. Anthony Basilica Cathedral to honor those lost.

Former Kelly High teacher Jerrilynn Miller shared memories of missing students—who once filled her classroom with laughter—and community members continue to hope for a miracle.

Beaumont Mayor Roy West will host a prayer service on July 9 at 6:00 p.m. at the Jefferson Theatre for community members to pray for flood victims along the Guadalupe River — several local pastors will lead prayers for survivors and families affected by the floods.
