Beaumont country singer Mark Chesnutt is mourning longtime bandmate Dave Sirmon, who died unexpectedly on the tour bus Saturday night while on tour — memorial plans and a fundraiser for his widow will be announced soon.
Visitors can experience a new guided tour at McFaddin-Ward House Museum on Calder Ave that re-creates World War I-era Beaumont, highlighting local contributions like rationing and Liberty Loan drives while showcasing artifacts (for ages 8+).
Tours run Tue-Sat from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and Sun from noon to 2:30 p.m.

Lamar Institute of Technology's first nursing class passed the NCLEX-RN on their first try, and all 20 graduates have secured jobs.
Registration for its Fall 2026 program closes online on Aug. 21 (applications open Jan. 1).
