- ➤ The Beaumont Police Department is mourning Lt. Curtis Breaux, a 39-year veteran who died following a medical emergency, and is coordinating funeral arrangements with his family. A gathering for family and friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Broussard’s on July 23 (with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m.), and a Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 1:00 p.m. on July 24 at St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica before interment at Oak Bluff Memorial Park. - ➤ Students from churches across Texas worked over the past week to help repair homes in Jefferson County after Hurricane Harvey by removing debris, cleaning up, and supporting construction efforts — part of an ongoing recovery. - ➤ On July 11, the Fourth Annual Gumbo Clayfest at The Art Studio, Inc. in Beaumont drew a good crowd as local ceramic artist Greg Busceme worked with three visiting artists—Tom Belden of Arizona, Chris Leonard of McAllen, and Gary 'Greeny' Greenberg of Pennsylvania—to display finished work for sale.
