- ➤ Texas-born brand Twin Peaks held two fundraisers in July — its Dine & Donate Campaign ran from July 14 to 15 donating part of sales to the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund for Hill Country flood victims, and Twin Peaks Beaumont with Avalanche Food Group are aiming to raise $30,000 in July to provide grants that help Beaumont teachers buy classroom supplies. - ➤ Stephen Angelle, 23, from Port Arthur is facing a retrial for fatally shooting Jakobi Rubin on Dec. 27 following a fight in the 1100 block of Liberty Ave, and opening statements began Tuesday as a resident and a garbage truck driver provided key details—one witness said Angelle got his gun from his car after a fistfight. 12 News Now
- ➤ Hardin County deputies aided by U.S. Marshals arrested California murder suspect Kenneth Haynes (37) in Sour Lake on Monday, July 14th, and he is held on a $1 million bond while awaiting extradition to California. Beaumont Enterprise

- ➤ A new 17% tariff on fresh tomatoes from Mexico took effect after the U.S. withdrew from a trade agreement — many local restaurants now worry that costs may rise. Business owners in the area say they expect modest price increases by fall — though some have not seen any changes yet. 12 News Now

- ➤ The Port Neches-Groves school board approved a compensation package that gives teachers with 0-4 years a step+increase of $2,500 and those with 5+ years a step+increase of $5,000, while other employees will receive a 7% raise effective for the 2025-26 school year.
