  • Beaumont Public Works Director Amalia 'Molly' Villarreal said the city is working with Union Pacific & the Federal Railroad Administration to bring eight quiet zones into compliance as train conductors keep sounding their horns until modifications are completed. Residents remain frustrated and continue to file noise complaints while the timeline remains out of the city's control.  KFDM

  • Alex Hernandez, owner of Tacos El Primo in north Beaumont, was named Southeast Texas Restaurant Association's Outstanding Restaurateur of the Year for 2025. He and his wife Mimi earned the honor for hosting annual posadas that offer free food and collect donations for local families — a tradition that highlights their commitment to the community.  12 News Now

CRIME NEWS

  • Beaumont man Larry Fletcher was indicted on charges of Aggravated Assault With a Deadly Weapon and Manslaughter for a September crash that killed Army veteran Arthur Thomas and critically injured his wife and was released Wednesday on a $100,000 bond—court documents show he had been speeding at 72 mph in a 30 mph zone near the intersection of Brooklyn and Grant.  FOX 4 Beaumont
  • A Beaumont man, Larry Glenn Fletcher, was indicted on manslaughter and aggravated assault charges after a fatal crash on September 18th when he drove 72 mph in a 30 mph zone and did not brake until 1.5 seconds before impact, and Jefferson County deputies arrested him Tuesday morning before he was taken to the county correctional facility.  12 News Now

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Beaumont ISD is changing its bus system this school year to have middle and high school students ride together—while elementary routes stay separate. The new plan adds tracking badges via the MyRide K-12 app to help cut bus delays and reduce wear on buses.  12 News Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Beaumont closed Avenue D from Wall to Forsythe Streets and Sabine Pass Avenue from Euclid to Harriot Streets on July 23 for urgent sewer line repairs that caused detours. Both roads reopened around 4:30 p.m. after maintenance — officials confirmed repairs were completed on schedule.  Beaumont Enterprise
  • TxDOT officials said maintenance crews repair potholes on Interstate 10 and U.S. 69 by checking the damaged area, removing the broken pavement and filling it with new asphalt—bad weather and wet roads can delay the work. They added that water, changing temperatures and heavy traffic all contribute to the formation of potholes.  Beaumont Enterprise
