ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A driver crashed into a truck pulling a horse trailer on Highway 190 near the Dam B bridge last Thursday, which closed both directions for about one hour—responders reported only one minor injury and no harm to the two horses while DPS oversaw the investigation. KFDM
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Alex Hernández and his wife Mimi were named Restaurateur of the Year 2025 by the Southeast Texas Restaurant Association for their leadership and community support, running Tacos El Primo on the north side of Beaumont. The restaurant hosts free December community posadas—providing food, entertainment, and donations for local families. 12 News Now
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Criminal District Court Judge John Stevens sentenced Steron Angelle, Charles Nicholas Sr., and Charles Nicholas Jr. to three days in jail for contempt—each also must pay $175 for a broken chair during a brawl outside his courtroom after a murder trial verdict. KFDM
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ McFaddin-Ward House Museum will host its annual Teacher Appreciation Happy Hour on July 31 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Educators from public, private, and homeschool systems will tour the historic first floor at the Visitor Center at 1906 Calder Ave—with the first 50 attendees receiving a teacher swag bag. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Beaumont Bond Advisory Committee finalized a $210 million bond proposal with projects in infrastructure, drainage, public safety, parks and recreation, and economic development—this includes plans for drainage repairs, police headquarters improvements, and real-time crime center cameras based on public feedback from recent open houses. The proposal will be presented to the council at their meeting next Tuesday and the council has until August 18 to decide whether to place the bond on the November ballot. Beaumont Enterprise
