The Silsbee Chamber of Commerce mourned Executive Director Melissa Smart and her three family members from Kountze who died when their UTV crashed on Jim Burns Road onto FM 92 at 11:30 p.m. Friday after being hit by an 18-wheeler—Kali Smart remains hospitalized and two drivers were treated for injuries in a secondary crash.

Kayla White, executive director of the Southeast Texas Nonprofit Development Center, will speak at the Beaumont Rotary Club meeting on July 30 to share her work in nonprofit development (she is a Southeast Texas native and a Lamar University graduate recognized among top local professionals).
