Beaumont ISD reversed its districtwide cellphone rule after spending nearly ($250K) on locking pouches.
Starting this school year, students in grades six through twelve must keep phones powered off in backpacks or purses with pouches for rule violations (aiming for less disruption).
Lumberton ISD is boosting campus security ahead of the first school day Wednesday, Aug.
5 using Raptor alerts, cameras, and armed guards. District leaders said frequent emergency drills (nearly 50 a year) and partnerships with local law enforcement help ensure rapid response to potential threats.
🏛️ Government
Groves City Council approved a specific use permit on Monday night after reviewing parking + safety concerns, allowing Cathedral of Faith International to move forward with a new church building.
The church, with a 25–30 member congregation, plans to hold Sunday worship and Monday Bible study while serving the community.
