12News is teaming with Humane Society of Southeast Texas, Beaumont Animal Care and Beaumont Pets Alive to run the Clear The Shelters event where pets can be adopted from Aug 1 to 31.

Beaumont ISD hosted two Yondr parent information sessions on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at Beaumont United High School and West Brook High School to explain the new Yondr phone free schools program that complies with House Bill 1481.

The city of Beaumont said local citizens helped secure a $1 million grant for the Laura Addition drainage project and spurred an appeal for funding on the Phelps Road project after Tropical Depression Imelda caused flooding—city officials say the Phelps Road project, which will cost $1.5 million with $500,000 from bonds, will be open for bids in August and is expected to be completed by May 2026.

Beaumont City Council's bond committee unanimously recommended a $210.5 million bond proposal to fund drainage projects, road repairs, a downtown indoor sports complex, parks, and public safety—community meetings and surveys helped shape the proposal.

The council will vote on August 12 to decide which parts will go to the voters.
