CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On Friday, August 1 at 11:25 a.m., Chambers County detectives stopped a van near I-10 and Jenkins Road and found nearly 16 pounds of cocaine and over 2 pounds of THC hidden in the walls—leading to the arrest of driver Dallas Brady from Dickinson on two felony charges. KFDM

- ➤ Jefferson County commissioners held a workshop to explore using a public-private partnership to fund a new jail as the 30-plus-year-old facility struggles with housing growing numbers of violent offenders—officials are reviewing proposals that include using up to $60 million in bonds without raising taxes.
