- ➤ Beloved retired Nederland Police Chief Gary Porter died early Sunday morning after a brave fight with cancer, surrounded by his family. He served for 47 1/2 years in law enforcement and retired on May 31 — he began as a dispatcher at 18 and rose to chief in 2018 after Darrell Bush's retirement. KFDM
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A worker died in an industrial accident at Golden Pass LNG at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday — the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and OSHA are investigating the incident to determine the cause of death. KFDM
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Neighborhood Veterinary Center in Nederland has announced a need for animal blood donors to help save pets' lives as transfusions increase. A public pet blood drive is scheduled for Sept. 13 at the clinic — donors will get free screenings and swag bags to support ongoing emergency care. Beaumont Enterprise
