- ➤ Beaumont Animal Care is partnering with 12News in August to clear its overcrowded shelter by offering a reduced $20 adoption fee that covers spay/neuter surgery, microchipping, vaccinations, flu prevention and deworming treatment—benefits designed to ready over 90 dogs for new homes. Prospective adopters may visit the facility at 1884 Pine Street Tuesday through Saturday as additional events, including one on August 23, are planned. 12 News Now

- ➤ Terry Rose, 68, rejected a 40-year plea deal Tuesday morning as he faces murder charges for the 1999 disappearance of his ex-girlfriend Kimberly Langwell — his case now moves closer to trial at Jefferson County's 252nd District Court where he could get five to 99 years or life in prison. 12 News Now

- ➤ Today, Beaumont firefighters secured a new contract after nearly a year of negotiations with the city council, which brings a 7% immediate pay raise and planned increases of 4% and 3% in the next years—benefiting both firefighters and paramedics. Firefighters welcomed the new terms—though concerns about ongoing staffing challenges remain. KFDM
- ➤ Beaumont City Council approved a ban on game rooms today when the mayor and four council members voted to outlaw these businesses—this decision follows a 7-0 vote last week and a Texas Court ruling that found certain gaming machines unconstitutional, and the ban will take effect in three months.
