Good morning, Beaumont. Here's your local news at a glance for Sunday, the 10th of August.

COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Harvey Zernial, CEO of the Southeast Texas Food Bank, said the agency felt the impact of federal SNAP cuts after a law signed on July 4 reduced funding—resulting in the loss of nearly 1 million pounds of donated food, the SNAP Education program, and $125,000 in administrative funds. He estimated the changes cost the food bank $700,000 this year and said local community groups are expected to help offset rising expenses for payroll and food purchasing.  Beaumont Enterprise
