COMMUNITY NEWS

  • St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church will host its annual Family Fun Day at 4615 S. 4th Street on Saturday, 16th from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. — Sister Ramona Muhammad discussed the event on the noon show.  FOX 4 Beaumont

CRIME NEWS

  • A 52-year-old Brownsville man pleaded guilty to two counts of intoxication manslaughter for a wrong-way crash on U.S. Highway 69 that killed two Beaumont women in June 2024 — sentencing will be determined later by Judge Raquel West.  12 News Now

CULTURE NEWS

  • A Southern tea room called Moyle Manor will open by the end of October at 2090 Broadway St. in Beaumont and serve scones, sandwiches, and a variety of teas in a historic home on Fridays and Saturdays by reservation only. Co-founder Kimberly Moyle, a chef with 38 years of experience, said she plans to update the menu regularly and confirm tea lines in the next month.  Beaumont Enterprise

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Entergy Texas is moving forward with a $1 billion project to build 49 miles of upgraded transmission lines from Hardin County to Jefferson County—designed to support a growing Southeast Texas population and better withstand severe storms. The project is awaiting approval from the Public Utility Commission of Texas and will be completed in 2028; Entergy also plans to build a new power plant in Port Arthur at a later date.  12 News Now

  • The Beaumont Rotary Club will host emergency management coordinator Shaqueena Nobles on August 13 for a talk on disaster preparedness and local emergency response — she brings over a decade of experience in managing emergencies — and her speech is expected to guide residents on staying safe.  Beaumont Enterprise

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • The historic Gilbert Building in downtown Beaumont was saved from demolition when Chris Richardson and Rob Fuselier bought the 123-year-old structure last Friday. City officials and preservationists welcome the owners' plan to transform the building into office and retail space as part of downtown revitalization.  KFDM
