- ➤ Beaumont’s longest-running fundraiser, Tasting for Some Other Place, will return August 19 to gather over 40 local businesses and churches to raise funds for its soup kitchen, day center and back-to-school support. Merchandise sales will debut for the first time—ensuring all proceeds go toward essential community services. 12 News Now
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Beaumont ISD is urging drivers to follow school bus safety rules as classes resume, pointing to past incidents where driver inattention led to collisions and near misses. The district said drivers must stop for buses with flashing lights — fines and license suspensions await those who do not obey the rules. KFDM
- ➤ Groves Primary School in Port Neches-Groves ISD opened today under new principal Angela Lewis and introduced a new dismissal system—parents must show a three-digit ID on their vehicles to help keep students safe. The school also stopped lunch deliveries so staff can focus on vital tasks like attendance and student check-ins. 12 News Now
